• ACCESSORY STRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS: <br />• <br />• <br />Lots less than 5 acres in size are required to finish any accessory structures in a manner <br />consistent with the dwelling on the site. <br />Roof and exterior color and material compatible with home (except <br />manufactured metal tool shed)/ <br />No metal sheet/panel siding with vertical orientation except upon tool sheds less <br />than one hundred fifty (150) square feet in area. Metal horizontal lap siding is <br />acceptable. <br />Lots of 5 acres or greater are allowed to construct `Metal Buildings and Pole Barns' <br />Metal buildings and pole barns acceptable. <br />No other building construction requirements are placed on Accessory Structures within <br />the ordinance. <br />Of specific concern are fabric structures currently being used by residents as a <br />temporary (or permanent) solution to vehicle storage issues. The current policy of staff <br />is to allow fabric structures so long as they meet all other requirements of the ordinance <br />(size, number, setbacks, etc...). This was allowed based partially on the exception for <br />manufactured metal tool sheds. Fabric canopies are used in a similar fashion. <br />Should construction requirements be altered, specifically <br />in regard to fabric structures? <br />ACCESSORY STRUCTURE — TEMPORARY STRUCTURES: <br />The issue of temporary structures is also something that should be discussed and <br />addressed within the zoning ordinance. Currently there are no provisions for temporary <br />structures in any way shape or form. <br />One case in which temporary structures are employed is for special events. Special <br />Events are allowed by the City Code and are reviewed by the City Clerk, as well as the <br />Police and Fire Departments. A section could be added to the ordinance in regards to <br />Special Events, but staff would want it to avoid another level of unnecessary review. <br />Other temporary structures are employed for private events such as weddings, <br />graduation parties, bar mitzvahs, and the like. Staff again does not feel it necessary to <br />
