During that same
year the position of Community Resource Coordinator was created with the main job function being the development of volunteerism.
This position was half -time until 2008 at which point it became a 34 time position. This increase in hours was directly due to the
increased number of hours and level of involvement by volunteers. We currently have a total of 128 volunteers associated with the
police department The number of Neighborhood Watch groups grew from approximately 25 in 2004 to 75 this year, as well as having
established a Business Watch group.
The volunteers include people involved in CERT and other Volunteers in Police Service. Last year these volunteers donated over 10,400
hours to the Lino lakes Police Department.
The challenge is to continue the growth and involvement of the volunteers. The objective of this grant is to utilize the grant funds to
increase the Community Resource Coordinator position to a full -time position. The primary function of this job still remains integrating
the volunteers into all aspects of the organization while increasing their numbers. Coordinating their growth as well as their
collaboration will be crucial for the ongoing success of the VIPS program and this will take increasing amounts of time. Based on
previous success, the extra effort that this grant will allow us to put towards the VIPS program will provide enormous dividends by
allowing the Community Resource Coordinator to make further contacts with the public by presenting educational seminars on
emergency management and crime prevention involvement by the public.
Does your program receive funds from
another source?
{t Yes CNO
Is this a new Project?
