• <br />• <br />• <br />DANGEROUS ANIMAL HEARING <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Chief Kent Strege <br />HEARING DATE: November 8, 2010 <br />TOPIC: Dangerous Animal Disposition <br />Background <br />Case #10- 075361 <br />• On 04/08/2010, Sgt. Kyle Leibel responded to a dog bite that occurred at <br />Timberwolf Trail and Wolf Circle. <br />• The victim, Carl Schmuland, stated that he had been walking near the intersection <br />when a large, golden colored dog came at him aggressively, jumped on him and <br />bit his left arm causing injury. <br />• The dog was identified as being owned by the Sawh's. <br />• Sgt. Leibel advised Sawh that due to the fact the dog had bit somebody it was <br />now classified as a potentially dangerous dog per city ordinance and state statute. <br />• CSO Kristen Wills followed up by mailing Raun Sawh a letter notifying him that <br />his dog was now classified as a potentially dangerous dog and that any additional <br />attacks would result in the dog being classified as a dangerous animal per city <br />ordinance. <br />• Included with the letter was a copy of the Lino Lakes city ordinance regarding <br />dangerous and potentially dangerous animals. <br />Case #10- 238471 <br />• On 10/15/2010, CSO Kristen Wills responded to a dog bite report that occurred at <br />1366 Wolf Circle. <br />• CSO Wills spoke with the victim, Diane Irwin, via phone who stated that the dog <br />attacked her as she was walking through the owner's yard at 1366 Wolf Circle. <br />• Irwin stated that as she was crossing Sawh's yard after checking on a possible fire <br />the dog, which was attached to a long leash, came at her aggressively, jumped up <br />and bit her once on her right elbow and again on her left hip causing injury. <br />• Irwin stated that she had been in the yard when the first bite occurred and in the <br />street when she received the second bite. <br />• CSO Wills spoke with the dog's owner, Andra Sawh, who stated that she was <br />present during the bites. <br />• Advised Sawh that because this was the second bite incident involving her dog <br />and because her dog had already been classified as a potentially dangerous dog <br />that her dog would now be classified as a dangerous animal per city ordinance. <br />• On 10/20/2010 to follow up with the owner Raun Sawh and advised him that his <br />dog was now classified as a dangerous animal. <br />
