Explorers
The Lino Lakes Police Explorer Post began to take off by adding members and developing a
training plan. The advisors guide the explorers by providing training on all aspects of law
enforcement including: defensive tactics, handcuffing, traffic stops, radio procedures and firearms.
The Explorers continually train on all different aspects of law enforcement to gain a greater
knowledge of the field, and to strengthen their knowledge and skills for the annual competition
held at Breezy Point.
Active Threat Response
The Active Threat Response is comprised of all officers from the Lino Lakes Police Department.
The officers are trained to respond to critical incidents involving an active shooter in businesses,
government buildings and schools within the City of Lino Lakes. This year the Target Store opened
their business for officers to use so they could train in a business setting that actually exists in Lino
Lakes.
The Active Threat Response training was conducted regularly at various locations throughout the
city. Training consists of two hour segments which involve "role playing" scenarios that the unit
may encounter. The unit also trained with the use of a variety of firearms at indoor and outdoor
ranges to maintain their firearms proficiency. Area school officials have been very supportive of
the active threat response concept and assisted us with our training scenarios at their schools.
Lino Lakes Police Department 2005 Annual Report 23
