• <br />• <br />WS -1 <br />WORK SESSION MEMORANDUM <br />To: City Council <br />From: Al Rolek <br />Date: 6/26/06 <br />Re: Blue Heron Days Contributions <br />cc: Gordon Heitke <br />At the last work session the City Council asked for a list of in -kind contributions made by <br />the City toward the Blue Heron Days Celebration, the value of the contributions, and the <br />possibility of a cash contribution. <br />A survey of Directors has yielded these results: <br />Preparation for the Parade (barricade drop off /pickup) $ 120 <br />Preparation and use of ballfields for tournament 600 <br />Additional cleanings for Satellite toilets 250 <br />Policing — Officers 491 <br />Supervisors 980 <br />Reserves (Value of time) 818 <br />Total In -Kind Contributions S3,259 <br />If we were to supply umpires for the softball tournament, as suggested, the cost would be <br />$1,000- 2,000, depending on the number of games played. This amount is unbudgeted <br />and would impact on city programming, or would need to be a budget adjustment. It <br />should be noted that this is the same weekend as the State softball championship tourney. <br />At this time, since there is no contingency for 2006 and /or discretionary amounts <br />budgeted, staff is not recommending contributions beyond those listed above for 2006. If <br />Council would like to supply umpires or any other cash - out -of- pocket contribution, it has <br />been suggested that since attendance to the LMC conference and other training is less <br />than expected, there should be excess funding in the Council Conferences line item that <br />may be used for this purpose, estimated at $1,000 to $1,500. <br />These items can be discussed further at the work session. <br />Page 1 <br />
