Monotypes of reed canary grass will be <br />treated with a boom sprayer with Glyphosate herbicide. Small patches of reed canary <br />grass will be chemically treated with Sethoxydim grass - specific herbicides, to minimize <br />impacts to associated native sedges and forbs. Spot treatment of reed canary grass will be <br />accomplished with a backpack sprayer to limit/eliminate overspray; <br />• Re- sprouting cattail monotypes will be chemically treated with Glyphosate in the fall <br />(third or fourth quarters) of year two. <br />• Resprouts of common buckthorn, glossy buckthorn, and Tartarian honeysuckle will be re- <br />cut and the biomass removed from the site. Following re- cutting, stumps will be treated <br />with Glyphosate and/or Triclopyr herbicides to control re- sprouting. Cutting will be <br />accomplished with chainsaws and brush cutters (during the third and fourth quarter of the <br />second year, with herbicide treatment occurring immediately following cutting); <br />• The project ecologist shall monitor the response of invasive and native species to <br />prescribed burning and chemical/herbicide treatments, and assess additional treatment <br />needs for year three (prior to re- seeding with native species mixes). <br />Year Three (January 1 through December 31) — Outlot D <br />Restoration and Management Tasks <br />• Prescribed burn plans will be written and burn permits will be acquired in the first quarter <br />of the third year; <br />• Prescribed burning plan will be implemented for all habitats (29.9 acres) in Outlot D. <br />The prescribed burn will be implemented in the late first quarter, or early second quarter <br />of year three (i.e. March and/or April); <br />• If necessary, resprouts of reed canary grass will be chemically treated with Sethoxydim <br />grass - specific herbicide and/or Glyphosate herbicides in the early spring (late second <br />quarter) or fall (third and fourth quarters) of year three.
