STAFF ORIGINATOR: MEETING DATE: TOPIC: AGENDA ITEM 1F Julie Bartell, City Clerk September 11, 2006 Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 06 -149, Authorizing a new on -sale wine and beer license with Sunday sales for Jason's Bobby & Steve's Auto World, at 7090 21st Av S VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) BACKGROUND: An application has been submitted by Jason Snyder co -owner of Jason's Bobby & Steve's Auto World at 7090 21st Av S, for a new on -sale wine and beer license to allow the sale of wine and strong beer at the Embers Restaurant that is a part of his facility. Mr. Snyder currently holds an off-sale 3.2 beer license for the convenience store portion of the business and he intends to maintain that license. The application submitted to the City is complete, the related fees have been requested and insurance information has been provided to the City as required. In addition, the Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted a background investigation on the applicants and found no information that would give a specific reason to deny the application. In accordance with the Lino Lakes Code of Ordinances, Section 701 relating to Liquor Licensing, this application requires approval by the City Council. If local approval is granted, Mr. Snyder's application for a wine license will be forwarded to the Minnesota Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division for review. The State of Minnesota is the licensing authority for wine and liquor licenses; the City can grant beer licenses. The applicant is aware that approval is subject to all the provisions and conditions of the laws of the city, state and federal government. •
