• WS — Item/7' <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item 7 <br />Date: 7 April 2008 <br />To: City Council <br />From: Dan Tesch, Director of Administration <br />Re: Contract with AFSCME <br />Background <br />The City and AFSCME — the bargaining unit representing our clerical and technical <br />employees — have been negotiating the terms and conditions of employment for the past <br />couple of months. The details of our tentative agreement include: <br />1. A two -year agreement <br />2. Annual adjustments of 3% for 2008 and 2009 <br />3. Market adjustments for 3 classes of employees <br />• Senior Coordinator (PT) 4% <br />• Community Service Officer (PT) 4% <br />• Associate Planner (1 FTE) 4% <br />4. Increase of the employers percentage of health insurance contributions by up to <br />2% depending on what happens to our rates. <br />5. Change in vacation language to the language in the personnel policy <br />Requested Council Direction <br />Staff is looking for approval or additional direction with regard to this contract. The only <br />other contract approved (2007 -2008) was for police officers and included a 3% annual <br />adjustment for 2008. <br />
