Th Lino Lakes Departrrient has been awarded grants in pre v sous vears and in <br />)plied for and was awarde.1 a National Night Out grant and a Youth In Nced grant. - <br />National Night Out Grant - 1lie partnership that was formed between the lino Lakes <br />Police Department and Target Corporations for National Night, Out has e'Ltrried Over into <br />are ongoing beneficial Working relationship. In 2007, we were awarded $500.00 in grant . <br />riiozey to purchase the following items that helped support (au- Lino lakes National <br />Night Out celebration Target gift cards to be given out as contest prizes, paper <br />products to be supplied to block parties, National Night Out promotional/marketing <br />materials, hand outs for officers to give away to children on National Night Out (in the <br />past we have given out Frisbees, soccer balls, basketballs, glow sticks_ etc.), disposable <br />cameras to be given out to each National Night Out organizer and Target 1OIm <br />developing. <br />Youth in Need Grant— In 2007, 'fhe Lino Lakes Police Department was awarded $1,000 <br />to assist in forming a partnership with the Alexandra house to reach out to youth in <br />need in our community, specifically youth who are either victim of domestic violence <br />or witness violence in their homes, and ninaway youth. The money is as used to support <br />the partnership with the abuse shelter and pay for the costs associated with providing <br />follow -up services necessary for the operation of the program. The costs involved in the <br />follow-up will also assist in the identification of youth caught in the cycle of domestic <br />. violence and help them get the services they so badly require. <br />Alcohol Compliance Grant- Ise June of 2007 the police departnncnt a as awarded a $840.00 grant <br />from the State' of Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division. Hie grant targets <br />the enforcement of alcohol compliance checks at licensed liquor establishments. Grant dollars <br />aiie used for wages paid to underage purchasers participating in the compliance checks; rind <br />"buy money" used to purchase alcohol in the compliance chocks <br />The lino Lakes Police Department checked all of the establishments that sell alcohol on lour <br />occasions in 2007. Prior to each compliance check, letters are sciit out to the business and they <br />are advised that the check will occur within the month. Businesses are prov idcd the opportunity <br />fo, conduct a training class with the Lino lakes Police Department prior to the checks to ensure <br />11$ adequately trained in preventing minors from obtaining <br />ilco- <br />; <br />hol. <br />All of the establishments in Lino Lakes passed Lill four of their compliance checks with the ex- <br />ception of the folk ping; American Legion veiled on April 7th. Bobby and Steve's failed on <br />March 29th, and Jc . Liquor failed on March 29111. <br />
