The following goa /s and policies were developed during the Comprehensive P /an Update in <br />addition to the goa /s and strategies presented in the Vision document. These goals and policies <br />were added to further address issues that arose during the comprehensive planning process, <br />including community identity and involvement, natural resource protection, coordinated land use <br />planning, and maintenance of the existing housing stock. <br />Goal 8: Promote community involvement in the development process and city affairs. <br />Policies: <br />1. Provide opportunities for and encourage citizens to participate in public forums. <br />2. Improve the current public participation process to elicit more citizen involvement. <br />Goal 9: Sustain Lino Lakes' Natural Resources which make it such a desirable place to live. <br />Policies: <br />1. Continue to promote the use of planned unit developments (PUD) as the City's preferred <br />development process to implement the Resource Management System Plan. <br />Goal 10: Promote a unified community identity. <br />Policies: <br />1. Promote the Town Center Area as the economic and social center of the community to <br />promote pride and "sense of community" in Lino Lakes. <br />2. Create, strengthen and maintain the appearance of the city's gateways and key <br />transportation corridors through streetscapes, design standards, trails, lighting, signage <br />and other tools. <br />Goal 11: Maintain existing housing stock to insure a high - quality environment in all <br />residential neighborhoods. <br />Policies: <br />1. Promote the improvement of the existing housing stock, and to encourage the <br />rehabilitation or redevelopment of substandard housing <br />2. Encourage in -fill housing where appropriate. <br />Goal 12: Coordinate transportation with land use planning. <br />Policies: <br />1. Analyze the traffic generation characteristics of proposed land uses to avoid exceeding <br />the capacity of local, county, and regional roadways. <br />2.
