The purpose of tonight's meeting is for community members to review and provide input on the Comprehensive Plan draft chapters. Comment forms are available for written comments, and City staff is available to discuss your questions or concerns. Your input at this point in the process is important, because we would like to hear your comments and address your concerns on the Draft Plan before we prepare and approve the Final Comprehensive Plan. What is a Comprehensive Plan? The Comprehensive Plan is a guide for citizens, city staff, and elected officials to use when making decisions about growth and development. The Plan implements the 2030 Vision for the community's future that Lino Lakes citizens created in 2006. The Plan is the legal foundation for rules and regulations adopted by the community, such as the zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations. What is the 2030 Vision? The 2030 vision was developed by Lino Lakes citizens and presents a broad blueprint for positive change. The overall 2030 vision statement for Lino Lakes follows: In the year 2030, Lino Lakes is a city of approximately 30,000 residents. It is a friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and well-planned community that enjoys a rural ambience, carefully preserved and accessible natural resources and environmental amenities, quality park and recreational facilities, good schools, well maintained roads and infrastructure, and safe neighborhoods that offer a variety of housing to meet the needs of all ages and lifestyles. The predominant /y residential city has provided for a well -planned mix of retail, dining and entertainment activities that integrate into and serve the commercial needs of neighborhoods. The city also enjoys a strong and diversified tax base achieved through a balance of economic and commercial activities which are located in designated areas of the city. These activities provide a mix of office, light industrial, high tech, professional and financial businesses, employment and service opportunities. Lino Lakes' city government is fiscally responsible and a good steward of the community's many municipal assets. It provides efficient and cost - effective services from its highly - professional and service- oriented employees. Citizen participation and input are sought to identify and address problems and challenges through well- reasoned solutions. The city has a reputation for innovation and for sustaining positive working relationships among all elements of the community.
