WS — Item 2
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
Work Session Item 2
Date: October 6, 2008
To: City Council
From: Mary Alice Divine
Re: Charter Amendment Communication Plan
Background
At a special work session on September 22 the city council reviewed options with Chris
Deets, the communications consultant, for communicating information regarding the
charter amendment ballot question. It was determined that Mr. Deets would create a
special edition of the city newsletter with the goal of educating the citizens about the
charter change. The newsletter is expected to be printed and mailed to residents by
October 16. Council determined that they would review the contents at tonight's work
session.
It was also discussed that in the event that the ballot question did not pass, an exit poll
would be conducted to determine voters' knowledge of, and opinions about, changing the
city charter.
Requested Council Direction
Council is requested to review and approve a final draft so that it can go to the printer by
October 9.
Attachment(s)
Draft Newsletter will be presented at the work session.
1
