MetroNorth
November 25, 2008
Mary Alice Divine
Economic Development Coordinator
City of Lino Lakes
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
Meree
Dear Mary Alice:
On behalf of the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce, I encourage you to support the
creation of a new more central convention and visitor's bureau. The new bureau would
focus on tourism benefit around the Coon Rapids, Blaine, Lino Lakes and the
surrounding areas.
While several city hotel groups have already conducted meetings to discuss the
benefits of creating a new CVB, we encourage you to conduct a meeting with your city
officials as soon as possible. We would be happy to help facilitate such a meeting.
Our goal is to promote the interest of the hospitality industry and the National Sports
Center in Blaine. Coon Rapids and Lino Lakes. If your hotel and city decides to opt -out,
it is imperative that an opt -out letter be sent to the Visit Minneapolis North Convention
and Visitors Bureau before December 31, 2008. This gives your city an opportunity to
explore either staying with the current Convention and, Visitors Bureau or starting a new
entity. There is a one year provision with the CVB which means that a new Convention
& Visitors Bureau could be established in January, 2010.
If the decision is made to start a new Convention and Visitors Bureau, I strongly
encourage you to collaborate with the other cities that opted out to establish one unified
organization. This collective action would provide more resources to market the
hospitality industry in our area.
No matter what decision is made regarding your status with the Visit Minneapolis North
Convention & Visitors Bureau, the objective of the MetroNorth Chamber is to act in the
best interests of our hospitality industry and the National Sports Center.
Sincerely.
Tom Snell
Executive Director
MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce
The 21st Century Bank Building
9380 Central Ave. NE, Suite 320 • Blaine, MN 55434 • 763.783.3553 • FAX 763.783.3557
www.metronorthchamber.org • E -mail: chamber @metronorthchamber.org
