LLPD Roll Call Cable TV Show - A cable television show produced by the Lino Lakes Police <br />Department helps educate the public on safety issues is shown on North Metro Cable 15. <br />Teen Driver Class -The Lino Lakes Police Department offered a free seminar for families z pith <br />teen drivers. Driver's Education classes teach teens the basics of drivinga car. This seminar is <br />designed to go more in depth on ways to be a safe, conscientious driver. Teen drivers and a <br />parent or parents were invited to attend this seminar where they learned about the PRIVILEGES, <br />RESPONSIBILITIES, AND CONSEQUENCES of driving. The seminar covered risk factors for <br />teens, an overview of the graduated licensing program, parental involvement, the golden rules <br />to follow when you are stopped by the police, and DUI prevention for both teens and their <br />parents. In addition, the Lino Lakes Police Department partnered with the Centennial School <br />District bringing the Teen Driver Class to the Drivers Education Program. The class was pre- <br />sented during five Drivers Education classes to over 150 Centennial students. <br />Friends and Fitness Program The Lino Lakes Police Department held the 'Friends & Fitness" <br />program again aimed at middle school girls. Lino Lakes police officers. along with girls from <br />the Centennial High School, met with middle schools girls to exercise and talk about the <br />pressures of adolescence and the challenges it brings with peers. school, family. and <br />themselves. Friends & Fitness is a group where girls can feel free to express themselves, be <br />themselves, and build their confidence. This is achieved through self - esteem enhancing life - <br />lessons, discussions, and running in an encouraging, non judgmental atmosphere. The <br />participants met weekly at the YMCA and ran along the city trails. <br />Traveling Educational Classes - We have increased the number of educational classes that are <br />provided to the community focusing on crime prevention topics. Officers have been requested <br />to present information at conferences and meetings all over the state for which we charge a fee <br />to cover our expenses. These traveling education classes give officers an opportunity to <br />improve their public speaking and presentation skills while positively promoting the City of <br />Lino Lakes. <br />15 <br />
