2008 Volunteer Groups <br />Public Safety Citizen's Commission- Members of the Lino Lakes Police Department continued <br />their work with citizens on the Public Safety Citizen's Commission. The purpose of this <br />commission is to provide a formal structure to share information and offer an opportunity for <br />officers and citizens to provide feedback on police department topics and issues. Members of <br />this committee review and analyze topics of community concern, share information with the <br />community related to the police department, provide feedback on potential police department <br />improvement initiatives, offer advice on pending policy considerations and are communicators <br />to policy makers on police issues and concerns. Members of this committee are Daryl Bartsch, <br />Karen Bye, Lyle Bye, Lynne Crupi, Bob Ficcadenti, Howard Hill, Vince Lechman, Lisa Miller, <br />Tony Robeck, Mary Strohmayer, Judy Warren, Chief Pecchia, Captain Strege, Officer Mitch <br />Demars, Officer Adam Halverson, and Karen Anderson. Together they logged over 260 Volun- <br />teer hours. <br />Police Reserve Program - <br />The Lino Lakes Police Department Reserve Officer Unit continued their longstanding <br />dedication to community service by providing 2,867.75 volunteer hours to the Police <br />Department. The Reserves help the department and the community by: <br />• Assisting officers on patrol, transporting prisoners, providing traffic direction, <br />conducting neighborhood and business check, and performing bike and 4 -wheel patrol. <br />• Representing the police department at school and community functions, such as: <br />carnivals, parades, DARE graduations. <br />• Assisting with National Night Out, Senior Safety Fair, Youth Safety Camp, Police De- <br />partment Open House, and Public Safety Citizens Academy <br />• Participating and assisting with role playing at department trainings, CERT training ses- <br />sions, and Explorer trainings. <br />• Providing assistance for the Turtleman Triathlon race. <br />• Assisting with the Anoka County DWI Task Force <br />• Assisting the cities of Blaine, Coon Rapids, Anoka and Mounds View with their annual <br />festivals. <br />Reserve Officers are trained in first aid, traffic direction, defensive tactics, patrol tactics, weap- <br />ons training, vehicle lockouts, report writing, and use of police radios. <br />17 <br />
