MARKET STRATEGY <br />STRENGTHS <br />➢ Location <br />> Environmental amenities, culture, trails, parks, <br />schools <br />> Population -lower density <br />> Rate of development (slow /stopped). We step <br />back and look at planning and confirm <br />direction <br />> We are the safest City in the State <br />> Lots of new homes - population can support <br />➢ Pieces of redevelopment (slower). Very little <br />needs redevelopment <br />> Rawness of city: 1/3 developed, 1/3 <br />water /parks <br />2. PRODUCTION STRATEGY/ TECHNOLOGY <br />STRENGTHS <br />➢ Public Safety <br />> Parks and Rec Programs <br />> Working with city hall is fairly smooth <br />• Regulations are in good shape <br />➢ Technically good shape <br />> Good web site <br />> Good phone system <br />WEAKNESSES <br />> Life cycle housing -have none <br />> Bedroom community -not a lot of jobs <br />> Political: Diverse Vocal groups on both <br />sides of growth "Special interest" <br />> Charter City: Political Issues /Council politics <br />> Commercial folks remember and go <br />somewhere else, reputation <br />> Taxes, too high, middle compared to other <br />cities -were high - 1 or 2 in Twin Cities <br />WEAKNESSES <br />> Infrastructure: High cost -Anoka Country <br />> Roads -on going issues - complicated by city <br />charter <br />• 13% poor status -20 miles need to <br />reconstruct, we can't maintain <br />> We have 100 miles of roads in city <br />> Citizens don't vote for road repair <br />> Perception - difficult to work with City Hall. Is <br />this truth? We only hear about ones that go <br />bad. Citizens vs developers <br />> Several employees may not have <br />"positive /right" attitude. Who you talk to vs <br />process itself. <br />> Cable tv in council -sound issues <br />10 <br />
