Referendum put before voters
Extension of an existing operating levy referendum, along with a
request for a modest increase, will be put before voters in the
Centennial School District Tuesday, Nov. 3.
►CENTENNIAL
SCHOOL DISTRICT 12
The details:
• Question 1 seeks approval to renew the existing operating levy of $689.17 per
pupil unit. Since taxpayers currently fund this levy (which expires in 2011), there
will be no change in taxes related to this question. The renewal would continue to
provide $5 million per year for another five years beginning with the 2011 -12
school year.
• Question 2 seeks to increase the operating levy an additional $295 per pupil unit.
These funds are needed because the State of Minnesota did not provide a funding
increase to schools. The increase would generate an additional $2.1 million
annually for the next six years beginning in 2010 -11. Approval of this question
would increase taxes on a $200,000 home by $133.19 per year ($11.10 per
month). Visit www.isdl2.org and click on Centennial's web -based tax calculator
to learn what the levy means to an individual tax payer.
Both levies would expire after the 2015 -16 school year.
Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• COMBINED Centennial School District #12 - Precinct No. 1:
City of Centerville, Precinct 1 — vote at Centerville Elementary School, 1721 Westview Street, Centerville
• COMBINED Centennial School District #12 - Precinct No. 3:
City of Lexington, Precinct 1; and City of Blaine, District 1 Precinct 1, Precinct 2 and Precinct 7; District 2, Precinct
1; District 2, Precinct 9) — vote at Centennial High School Performing Arts Center, 4707 North Road, Circle Pines
• City of Circle Pines, all in Circle Pines
o Precinct 1, Centennial Fire Station #1, 2 East Road
o Precinct 2, Circle Pines City Hall, 200 Civic Heights Circle
• City of Lino Lakes, all in Lino Lakes
o Precinct 1, Lino Lakes Senior Center, 1189 Main Street
o Precinct 2, Centennial Fire Station #2, 7741 Lake Drive
o Precinct 3, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 171 Elm Street
o Precinct 4, Lino Lakes City Hall, 600 Town Center Parkway
o Precinct 5, Rice Creek Covenant Church, 125 Ash Street
o Precinct 6, Living Waters Lutheran Church, 865 Birch Street
o Precinct 7, Rice Lake Elementary School, 575 Birch Street
Learn more about the referendum by visiting the
district website at www.isdl2.org.
