ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 28, 2001 <br />Mr. Schmidt noted that every city is experiencing similar growth, and with no existing <br />PDO residents fear their homes could be removed. <br />Donlin admitted that in the past she had a negative view of developers, but 15 years ago <br />she met some developers willing to receive ideas from residents. These same developers <br />were gaining a good reputation, and getting published in association. journals because of <br />their innovative techniques. They were thinking ahead of the cities. The Board was <br />bringing the City up to the level of the innovative developers, and the City was reaping <br />the benefits. <br />Mr. Schmidt stated that they were going to protect what they could. He did not want to <br />see the size of the lots reduced, because he felt they were too small. <br />Trehus pointed out that this was a significant size development, and it appeared to be <br />straight R-1. He urged Mr. Schmidt to go to staff and try to make it more conservation <br />development. He advised that the <br />owners not own land up to the shore; o the pond in the center in order to create a buffer. <br />In addition, a pine tree strip for, a;bufferwa's not necessary on the perimeter. Within the <br />project some restoration of habitat would be of benefit. <br />Donlin had some questions •about the location of the infiltration ponds. Mr. Cooper <br />answered that ponds would be created with infiltration pipes. <br />, <br />O'Connell asked if fl ere- were any present already. <br />Kukonen stated that Lots 37-42, Block 1 appeared to have a stormwater runoff problem, <br />and recornr ended buffering. <br />Donlin asked the timeframe that they were working with.
