ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING September 26, 2012 <br />DRAFT MINUTES 4 <br />3. Nozzles, hose and fittings. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated he would like to have the Quad Press talk to a current <br />community gardener’s and write an article for the paper. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated he would like to have signs made for the Community Garden <br />site for 2013. <br /> <br />Ms. Andrzejewski stated if we do not receive the grant we could expand the <br />current plots, and the plots would still have access to water. <br /> <br />E. Fall Arbor Day at Lino Lakes Elementary <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated Lino Lakes Elementary will be having a fall Arbor Day on <br />Thursday, October 4, 2012. <br /> <br />F. Target Corporation <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated Target will be revamping the plantings in the infiltration ponds <br />on Apollo Drive. He stated he will send out an email with dates for anyone <br />interested in digging up native plants for their gardens. Target is planning on <br />having more formal plantings with native species. He stated there will be 500 <br />cubic yards coming out of the ponds. He stated the grates for sediment traps are <br />cleaned 8 times a year. <br /> <br />G. Japanese Beetle <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated the Japanese beetles come out in June and July to eat tree <br />leaves. In August and September they eat the roots of your turf. Ms. DeHaven <br />questioned if there is a spray for getting rid of the beetles. Mr. Asleson stated yes, <br />they can be easily killed on the trees with an insecticidal soap. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated it would be a good idea to put an article in the spring issue of <br />the City’s newsletter on how to treat for the beetles. <br /> <br />7. ADJOURN <br /> <br />It was noted that the next meeting of the Environmental Board will be on <br />Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />There being no further business, Ms. DeHaven moved to adjourn at7:45 p.m. Ms. <br />Andrzejewski seconded the motion.
