ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING October 24, 2012 <br />DRAFT MINUTES 4 <br /> <br />Amy Ulbricht and Amanda Lee presented the Business Survey Recycling Results <br />from the survey’s that were sent out to Lino Lakes businesses. <br /> <br />Project Results: <br /> <br />Overall 188 businesses were on the original list. Ms. Lee stated she made 175 <br />telephone calls and was able to speak with 158 businesses. Out of the 158 <br />businesses, 119 agreed to take part in the survey. Out of the 119 businesses they <br />received 94 surveys back. <br /> <br />Ms. Lee stated she emailed the survey to 41 businesses. There were 8 businesses <br />who responded to the follow-up email. There were 78 businesses that completed <br />the phone survey. There were 10 businesses that took the survey and completed it <br />in Survey Monkey. There were 16 businesses who took the online survey. <br /> <br />She stated 64 businesses out of the 78 are currently recycling. She stated <br />cardboard, aluminum, paper and plastic are the most commonly recycled items. <br /> <br />The following are types of information businesses requested: <br />Additional containers: 13 <br />Signage for recycling 11 <br />Encouragement 7 <br />Recycling brochure 6 <br />Blue recycling baskets 2 <br />Batteries/electronics recycling 1 <br /> <br />Ms. Lee stated the phone survey was the most effective. <br /> <br />Ms. Lee’s overall recommendation: <br /> <br /> Work with businesses that want to recycle more. <br /> Work with haulers to provide better recycling information to businesses <br />customers. <br /> Continue to promote recycling drop-off opportunities to businesses. <br /> <br />Some of the businesses contacted were in multi-tenant buildings. Ms. Lee stated <br />she would try to contact the owners of the buildings. <br /> <br />Ms. Ulbricht and Ms. Lee will be making 10 site visits to interested businesses. <br />They have three visits scheduled at this time. <br /> <br />It was requested that we add http://recycleminnesota.org/ link to the City website <br />under solid waste. <br />
