ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 29, 2010 <br />DRAFT MINUTES 2 <br />Jason Husveth from Critical Connections was present to update the board on the <br />scope of work and cost estimate proposed for 2011. Tasks include: Continued <br />management and removal of buckthorn, reed canary grass and other invasive <br />species and noxious weeds. <br /> <br />It was stated the 2010 spring burn was delayed until the fall due to lack of a burn <br />permit. Mr. Asleson stated he would speak with and Fire Chief Jerry Streich as to <br />the importance of the spring burn for the prairie. The Board will invite the Fire <br />Chief to the next Environmental Board meeting. <br /> <br />6. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />1. Blue Heron Days Parade Follow-Up <br /> <br />It was stated that there was good community feedback <br /> <br />2. Woolan’s Park Update <br /> <br />Update was given by Jason Husveth concerning the Woolan’s park wetland bank <br />project. <br /> <br />Part A: of the wetland banking application was submitted to BWSR. <br /> <br />Part B will be submitted forthcoming. Part B consists of a management plan for <br />the wetland bank process <br /> <br />The physical aspect of the restoration is scheduled to begin January when the soil <br />is frozen. <br /> <br />3. Community Garden’s Update <br /> <br />Ms. Klaman stated she would attend a Planning & Zoning Board meeting to <br />update members on the proposed Community Garden and possibly a farmer’s <br />market. Mr. Asleson stated there was an article in the Fall Lino Lakes City <br />Newsletter regarding the Community Garden. He stated he was contacted by 8 <br />interested persons. He stated he will set up a meeting with interested persons <br />when there is an approved land site for this project. <br /> <br />4. Rice lake Subwatershed Raingarden Project Update <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson updated Board members on progress and status of the raingarden <br />process and development in the Rice Lake subwatershed District. <br /> <br /> <br />
