•
•
•
AGENDA ITEM VI A
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Smyser
P & Z MEETING DATE: June 14, 2006
TOPIC: Discussion of Meeting Rules
The P & Z has discussed the possibility of preparing a set of meeting rules. The purpose
of the rules would be to establish protocol for conducting meetings. If printed and
available with meeting agendas, the rules also would help the public understand how the
P & Z conducts its business at the meetings.
I have attached a hard copy of the city council "Council Meeting Procedures" currently
on the Lino Lakes website. I've also attached Hugo's pamphlet. Mike Hyden has
provided information from two other communities. Shoreview has a pamphlet. Roseville
includes some information at the top of the meeting agenda. These refer to city council
meetings, but meeting protocol can be universal, with any appropriate adjustments made
for the P & Z. For example, the P & Z has a chair rather than a mayor running the
meeting, and P & Z does not have old business versus new business on the agenda.
Staff is asking for direction on how the Board wants to proceed.
