• <br />AGENDA ITEM V.A. <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Paul Bengtson <br />MEETING DATE: July 12, 2006 <br />TOPIC: PUBLIC HEARING: <br />Conditional Use Permit — Private Dog Kennel <br />575 Ash Street <br />BACKGROUND <br />Margo Polta has requested approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow a private dog kennel at 575 Ash <br />Street. This application is required due to the current animal ordinance which limits the number of dogs kept on <br />this property. The dog ordinance of the city code limits the number of dogs on a property to two. This can be <br />increased to four with the approval by the city of a Conditional Use Permit and a license for a private dog <br />kennel. A Dog Kennel is listed as a conditional use within the Rural zoning district and the <br />conditions included are as follows: <br />a. The applicable provisions of Section 503 of the City Code relating to the keeping of animals are <br />determined to be satisfied. <br />Section 503 of the City Code is the basic animal portion of the city code. Section 502 and 607 include specific <br />standards for dogs and dog kennels that will need to be complied with on this site. A staff recommended <br />condition is included with the report which requires compliance with both City Code sections. <br />•Administration <br />As listed in the Zoning Ordinance, the Planning and Zoning Board shall recommend a conditional use permit <br />and the Council shall order the issuance of such permit only if it finds the following criteria have been met: <br />
