• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM VII B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Smyser <br />P & Z MEETING DATE: May 11, 2011 <br />DISCUSSION TOPIC: PUBLIC HEARING <br />Amending Section 2 of the Zoning Ordinance <br />BACKGROUND <br />The new 2030 Comprehensive Plan will establish some new policies for how development will <br />occur in Lino Lakes. The zoning ordinance is an important element in the implementation of <br />those policies. Many requirements in the ordinance will need to be amended to implement the <br />new policies. <br />We reviewed some parts of the ordinance in 2010. Amendments to the rest of it are now drafted <br />or in progress. We will work through the entire zoning ordinance in upcoming months. <br />Amending the zoning ordinance requires a public hearing. The hearing tonight is on Section 2 of <br />the ordinance. Section 2 regulates several categories of development, including: <br />Subd. 1. Amendments, Text and Rezonings <br />Subd. 2. Conditional Use Permits <br />Subd. 3. Interim Use Permits <br />Subd. 4. Variances and Appeals <br />Subd. 5. Administrative Permits & Approvals <br />Subd. 6. Site and Building Plan Review <br />Subd. 7. Duties of City Staff <br />Subd. 8. Certificate of Occupancy <br />Subd. 9. Enforcement and Penalties <br />Subd. 10. PUD, Planned Unit Development <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Recommend approval of amendments to Section 2. <br />2. Return to staff with direction. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option 1. <br />
