•
Drainage Swale w/Wetlands
Plants for Filtration of Run -off,
Detention and Percolation
Wetlands or
Stream
Integrated Site Planning. Application of stormwater management
techniques early in site planning can suggest street and pathway
alignment, as well as optimum locations for swales to help filter and
detain runoff. In this way, solutions generate cost - effective development
that recognizes land forms and integrates nature in pleasing ways.
Information Infrastructure
Maximize Internet Capabilities. The City shall pursue the extension of fiber -optic cables to the site.
Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) ? ? ?? are presently extended to the Middle School, and may be
extended to the Town Center for public uses — such as the proposed library and community recre-
ation building (e.g the YMCA). The Town Center should contain a menu of internet- related facili-
ties that serve the larger community, and make it a desirable to live and work.
Library Workstations. The reading rooms of the future will rely increasingly on computers, moni-
tors and modems. The new library should be a preeminent place for information technologies.
Teleconference Facilities. Teleconference facilities should be created within the library or elsewhere.
Teleconference facilities can serve cultural, educational and business needs, and may be an impor-
tant factor in a resident's and business' decision to locate in the Town Center.
Digital community "billboards" and kiosks. Community events and information might be dis-
played on large "billboards" or kiosks that face the Village Green, the lobbies in the library and City
Hall, or other locations. Bold and dynamic images on the billboard may contribute to the creation
of an exciting Town Center.
Regional Park Interpretive Center. Internet capabilities may enhance the _ Regional Park as an
educational resource. Scholars and others can explore the park, but then also conduct research and
conferences via the intemet. The internet may also facilitate the creation of exhibits and displays. A
digital interpretive center could house these facilities where the east -west "main street" meets the
park, further enhancing the Town Center as a unique destination.
Live -Work and Residential Access. The availability of Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) may be an
important factor in attracting residents who are interested in living and conducting business in the
Town Center. At -home businesses will help enhance the Town Center as a destination and active
place.
Business Access. Information infrastructure should be made available to businesses throughout the
Town Center and in potential business locations west of Lake Drive.
75
