Dear Mary Kay; Since we received our conditional use permit in 1997, we have made a conscious effort to minimize the exposure of our neighbors to unnecessary noise. One of the conditions of our permit is to use strobe lights instead of beepers as movement warning devices on our equipment before 8:OOam. The new material handling equipment we have purchased is equipped from the factory with strobe lights that operate whenever the equipment is running. It is also an OSHA requirement that all equipment where the operator has obstructed view to the rear be equipped with an audible warnindevice. Since 1997, we have installed the quietest warning devises available and positioned them in a way to minimize the distance they can be heard from. We have hired an outside company to do noise level tests along our north property line. The results of these tests show that we comply with the Minnesota Pollution Control Standards, which is the standard that the city of Lino Lakes follows. At this time we would like to have the portion of the conditional use permit pertaining to the use of strobe lights instead of beepers removed from the permit. We feel that the safety of our employees comes first and that it is impossible to operate without the use of audible warning devises to make them aware of the moving equipment. Sincerely, Randall G.
