ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 24, 2008 <br />• Ms. Brouillet recommended having a development day to inform staff of Green <br />Building opportunities <br />• <br />• <br />Mr. Asleson stated that builders are not always on the same page. <br />Ms. Ojczyk stated there will be green building training in the near future. <br />Ms. Bor stated the concept is when builder's come to city, they know the process. <br />She stated at the time when applying for a building permit they have already <br />invested in plans and by then it is almost too late. <br />B. Blue Heron Days Parade wrap -up <br />Ms. Hartley recommended additional volunteers to help with garbage pick up. <br />She suggested dividing volunteers up and having a few start where the parade <br />ends and a few start where the parade begins and work toward each other. <br />Ms. Bor suggested next year the board should have a visible banner and brighter <br />colored shirt. <br />C. Recycling Reports <br />Mr. Asleson stated the oil recycling station at1189 Main Street has been shut <br />down due to pcbs that were dumped into our tank. Mr. Asleson stated he filed a <br />police report for vandalism. <br />Other recycling and solid waste issues: Shoreview recycling subgroup will be <br />tabled until our next meeting: <br />Ms. O'Dea stated she would like to see parameters for families on their water bills <br />to be able to understand water usage for a family of four or five, etc. Ms. Bor <br />stated an article should be put in the Lino Lakes Newsletter and/or website. Mr. <br />Asleson stated we will look into having information in the upcoming newsletter. <br />Blue Thumb Update — Add this item to next meeting agenda. <br />7. ADJOURN <br />It was noted that the next meeting of the Environmental Board will be on October <br />29, 2008. <br />There being no further business, Ms. Brouillet moved to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. Ms. <br />Andrzejewski seconded the motion.
