• <br />• <br />• <br />Question: How does recycling help Minnesota communities? <br />Answer: In so many ways! <br />Preserves your environment: it's the Right thing to do! <br />It saves you money by avoiding waste disposal fees and costs <br />Reduces pollution because it's an every other week service, not weekly <br />Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by the equivalent of 2.3 million cars because we recycle <br />Paper recycled in Minnesota saves 5, 750,000 trees from being cut down -- -when you recycle it helps <br />the whole environment <br />Question: What can I recycle in my Allied Waste Single Sort RecycleBank Cart? <br />Answer: <br />Recyclable papers include: <br />- Newspapers, magazines, file folders, papers (all colors), fax sheets, envelopes, catalogs, <br />small phone books and junk mail <br />- Corrugated cardboard, box board (such as cereal, cracker, tissue, and shoe boxes). Please <br />flatten, bundle & cut to 3' x 3' x 6" (Please place next to or under the recycle bin.) <br />Recyclable container products include: <br />- Aluminum beverage cans and tin /steel cans <br />- Glass bottles and jars —three colors only (brown, green, clear) <br />- Plastic bottles with a neck such as soda bottles, laundry products, etc. <br />Please DO NOT recycle the following items: <br />- Food tainted items: pizza boxes, frozen food boxes, cups, coffee filters, paper towels, <br />napkins, beverage and pop cartons, "waxy" items such as; milk cartons, waxed paper, juice <br />boxes, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, plastic bags, silverware, and plastic tubs. <br />- Chemically tainted items: aerosol cans, paint cans, motor oil or gas containers. <br />- Bathroom /household items: razors, needles, light bulbs, plastic bags, and medicine <br />containers. <br />- Foam items: cups, plates and packaging materials. <br />- Other items: ceramics, steel and household glasses. <br />- Plastic bags <br />- Clear plastic packaging (strawberries, etc.) <br />Question: What if I have more recycling than fits in my container? <br />Answer: You can request a larger container by calling your local Allied Waste office or <br />submitting a request at www.AlliedWasteTwinCities.com <br />Question: What happens if I put items in my container that are not recyclable? <br />Answer: Placing items that are not recyclable in your container can negatively affect your <br />RecycleBank account and can jeopardize the program for you and your neighbors. <br />
