ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING September 26, 2012 <br />Mr. Asleson stated he would like to have signs made for the Community Garden <br />for 2013. <br />Ms. Andrzejewski stated if we do not receive the grant we could expand the <br />current plots and the plots would still have access to water. <br />E. Fall Arbor Day at Lino Lakes Elementary <br />Mr. Asleson stated Lino Lakes Elementary will be having a fall Arbor Day on <br />Thursday, October 4, 2012. <br />F. Target Corporation <br />Mr. Asleson stated Target will be revamping the plantings in the infiltration ponds <br />on Apollo Drive. He stated he will send out an email with dates for anyone <br />interested in digging up native plants for their gardens. Target is planning on <br />having more formal plantings with native species. He stated there will be 500 <br />cubic yards coming out of the ponds. He stated the grates for sediment traps are <br />cleaned 8 times a year. <br />Infiltration ponds <br />G. Japanese Beatle <br />Mr. Asleson stated Japanese Beatles come out in June and July to eat tree leaves. <br />In August and September they eat the roots of your turf Ms. DeHaven questioned <br />if there is a spray for getting rid of the beetles. Mr. Asleson stated yes, there are <br />chemicals to treat. Mr. Asleson stated they can be easily killed on the trees with <br />an insecticidal soap. <br />Mr. Asleson stated itwould be a good idea to put an article in the spring City <br />newsletter on how to treat -for the beetles. <br />7. ADJOURN <br />It was noted that the next meeting of the Environmental Board will be on <br />Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. <br />There being no further business, Ms. DeHaven moved to adjourn at7:45 p.m. Ms. <br />Andrzejewski seconded the motion.
