ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING October 24, 2012 Amy Ulbricht and Amanda Lee presented the Business Survey Recycling Results from the survey's that were sent out to Lino Lakes businesses. Project Results: Overall 188 businesses were on the original list. Ms. Lee stated she made 175 telephone calls and was able to speak with 158 businesses. Out of the 158 businesses, 119 agreed to take part in the survey. Out of the 119 businesses they received 94 surveys back. Ms. Lee stated she emailed the survey to 41 businesses. There were 8 businesses who responded to the follow -up email. There were 78 businesses that completed the phone survey. There were 10 businesses that took the survey and completed it in Survey Monkey. There were 16 businesses who took the online survey. She stated 64 businesses out of the 78 are currently recycling. She stated cardboard, aluminum, paper and plastic are the most commonly recycled items. The following are types of information businesses requested: Additional containers: 13 Signage for recycling 11 Encouragement 7 Recycling brochure 6 Blue recycling baskets 2 Batteries /electronics recycling 1 Ms. Lee stated the phone survey was the most effective. Ms. Lee's overall recommendation: • Work with businesses that want to recycle more. • Work with haulers to provide better recycling information to businesses customers. • Continue to promote recycling drop -off opportunities to businesses. Some of the businesses contacted were in multi - tenant buildings. Ms. Lee stated she would try to contact the owners of the buildings. Ms. Ulbricht and Ms. Lee will be making 10 site visits to interested businesses. They have three visits scheduled at this time.
