Environmental Board <br />July 31, 2013 <br />Page 2 <br />5. ACTION ITEMS <br />There were no Action Items <br />6. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />A. Stream Health Evaluation Program (SHEP) summary for 2013. Gary <br />Averback <br />Mr. Averback mentioned that there are three sites in the area that he has been involved <br />with for the past 6 years. They are Clearwater Creek, Hardwood Creek "above" and <br />Hardwood Creek " below ". <br />Clearwater Creek site is behind Centerville Cit l all has stu wn increasing population in <br />insects and is more stable than Hardwood Creek in that asp t continues to have some <br />of the healthiest water quality scores in the Rice Creek Watershed- <br />Hardwood Creek "above" is mostly pasture land and Hardwood Creek "below" is where <br />improvements have been done to the creek such as bank stabilization and wing dams <br />which were added to increase circulation. <br />Last three years Hardwood Creek continues to show improvement in both water quality <br />and an abundance of habitat. <br />Ms. O'Dea asked are the studies going to continue. <br />Mr. Averback stated that the studies will !continue to keep going as long as there is <br />funding. Friends of the Mississippi are the fund raisers and he belongs to a volunteer <br />group..,:,. <br />Ms. O'Dea asked who did the stream improvements in Hardwood Creek. The answer <br />was that Rice Creek Watershed does the layout of the projects <br />B. Concept Plan Review, Emmerich Concept Plan <br />Ms. O'Dea mentioned that the Emmerich Site Concept Plan was earlier in the evening. <br />Mr. Asleason mentioned that it is a PUD with mixed density. <br />Concerns were raised about traffic on 20th Ave., zoning, in the AUAR or not, water and <br />sewer in the area, wetlands concerns, surface water treatment, and screening. <br />No motion needed this is just an information discussion.
