• <br />• <br />Park Board Meeting - January 4, 2005 <br />Minutes <br />Review 2004 Park Dedication Funds - Rick reviewed the Park <br />Dedication Fund Summary as of December 28, 2004 noting the fund <br />balance is $247,445. However, the designated funds are in the <br />amount of $324,740. Therefore, there are more committed funds <br />than funds available. <br />2005 General Fund Budget for Trails - Rick advised the 2005 <br />General Fund Budget, which was adopted by the City Council in <br />December 2004, included a line item for trail construction and <br />development. The line item is $50,000. <br />Identify /Discuss Possible 2005 Goals /Request form Pheasant Hills <br />Preserve Homeowners Association - Chair Lindy referred to a copy <br />of a letter from the Pheasant Hills Preserve Homeowners <br />Association Board (PHPHA) to the Park Board requesting the <br />construction of a bridge directly north of the existing Pheasant <br />Hills Park. The PHPHA has committed to providing $5,000 to the <br />City of Lino Lakes if this project goes through. The PHPHA is <br />requesting the bridge be part of the 2005 Park Board goals. <br />Mr. Jim McDonald, PHPHA, stated the neighborhood is concerned <br />about safety. The existing waterway is used for ice skating in <br />the winter and a canoe area in the summer. <br />Mr. Dale Trettle, PHPHA, advised the PHPHA would like to see a <br />bridge constructed for access to the park. He indicated the <br />PHPHA has two bids for the project. Once the bridge is <br />constructed the trail system would be complete in the Pheasant <br />Hills area. <br />Mr. McDonald stated the PHPHA is committed to improving water <br />quality and flow with the ponds in that area. <br />Mr. Trettle stated there are a lot of options for the bridge. <br />The two companies that bid on the project did visit the site. It <br />is estimated that the cost of the bridge is approximately $35,000 <br />to $40,000 for all materials and labor exclusive of the asphalt. <br />Rick advised the Park Board could take the request under <br />consideration when determining the 2005 Park Board goals. <br />Birchwood Acres Park - Rick advised staff is recommending that <br />the redevelopment of Birchwood Acres Park be considered for 2005. <br />Specifically the improvements would include complete regrading of <br />the park area, installation of an irrigation system, and the <br />installation of an informal ball field. The player benches would <br />also be removed. Estimated project cost would be approximately <br />$50,000. The Park Dedication Fund received $85,240 from the <br />
