One positive of the cool temps is that the grass hasn't been growing out of control and we've been able to keep up with it pretty well. Seasonal staff are all on board now and that will definitely help us get caught up with some of the projects we've been neglecting. Projects during a hectic May have included: ❖ Weekly mowing of all park locations. ❖ Weekly garbage collection at all parks. ❖ Attended ball field maintenance seminar. ❖ Cut, chipped and stump ground 25 diseased boulevard trees for Forestry Department. ❖ Planted 25 replacement trees for Forestry Department. ❖ Planted 53 replacement and new park trees at various locations. ❖ Planted 30 replacement shrubs at Clearwater Creek Park. ❖ Watered in plant materials as needed. ❖ Removed graffiti from Sunrise Park playground equipment. ❖ Daily ball field game preparation. We are averaging 8 -10 game preparations per day. ❖ Installed two "no motorized vehicle" signs at Behm's Park trail heads. ❖ Moved 60+ prairie plants from Town Center construction site to Behm's Park and Town Center prairie areas. ❖ Installed 40' split rail fencing along trail behind 560 Arrowhead Drive. (kids cutting corner through yard.) ❖ Applied pre- emergent and roundup to shrub beds at Clearwater Creek Park. ❖ Soccer field maintenance • Line cut -ins, hang nets, repaint lines as necessary. ❖ Equipment maintenance as needed. (change, sharpen blades, grease) ••• Arena Acres tennis courts • Sealed and painted major cracks in court surface, installed new nets.
