Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation <br />Department <br />Program Highlights - <br />July Park Board Update <br />YOUTH <br />Summer Playground Program: The Summer Playground Program is <br />winding down - only two more weeks to go! This year's program has <br />been very successful, despite the extremely warm and humid weather. <br />342 children are enrolled in the Playground Program this summer- one of our highest totals ever! Twenty -eight staff <br />work directly and indirectly with the participants on a daily basis - doing everything from leading arts -n- crafts and <br />games to helping them develop friendships. As the Citygrows, we hope to continue adding additional playground <br />• program sites - we had a total of 7 sites this summer. <br />Preschool Playtime: Preschool Playtime is also winding down for the summer. The new expanded hours and program <br />length have worked out well. The staff have done a phenomenal job keeping the children busy and entertained during <br />their hour and a half with them - doing everything from storytime and snack time, to craft time and outside play time. <br />Hats off to the Preschool Playtime staff for making this the most successful summer yet for this program! <br />Youth Sports: <br />• Our third session of T Ball is in full swing -100 kids are participating in this session. <br />• Our second session of Soccer Fundamentals 4 -7 starts next week - 60 kids (ages 4 -7) will be participating. <br />Our Basketball Camp at Centennial Middle School is going well - 60 kids are participating in this program. <br />Our second session of Tennis is underway - 70 kids are participating in this session. <br />• Beginner Lacrosse League, forages 7 -10, has 51 kids participating in it. This league is an introductory league that <br />uses soft lacrosse sticks. <br />• Cougar Soccer Camp was huge success this year! We had both the Centennial girls and boys High School <br />coaches and their players run the week -long camp. 72 youth participated in the program. <br />• Volleyball Camp just finished -40 youth participated in this program. <br />ADULT <br />Softball: SummerAdultSoftball has just finished. Our champions were: <br />Sunday Co -Rec- Killer B's <br />Monday Men's - Dave's Sport Shop <br />Wednesday Men's- Creative Counters <br />Thursday Men's - Wildcats <br />RECREATION REVIEW & WEB PAGE <br />Recreation Review: Work is winding down on the fall edition of the Recreation Review. We anticipate going to print on <br />August 8, with delivery planned for the last <br />week of August. Registration for fall pro- <br />grams will begin September 1. <br />On -Line Registration: We will be starting <br />on -line registration this fall. Department staff <br />will be in training for three days the last week <br />of July for the new software system. <br />Questions?
