Rick DeGardner
From: Frederickson, Aaron P. [ apfrederickson ©arthurchapman.com]
Sent: Friday, December 01, 2006 11:52 PM
. To: Rick DeGardner; Bill Kusterman; George Lindy; Katie Boyle; Pam Taschuk; Pat Hueiman;
Paul Montain
Subject: Park Board Meeting
Folks:
I will be out of town next week and not able to attend the Park Board meeting. Regarding
the 2007 goals, I strongly support the proposal regarding Lino Park and the new master
plan proposal.
Also, as I mentioned at the last meeting, I think that the Board needs to take steps to
develop the area reserved for the sports complex. I would encourage a goal to be set that
would include one meeting to strategize on how to develop a sports complex within the city
and groups that would be supportive of such a complex. I think-that our community has
strong youth sports organizations and with them good constituencies that could be used in
promoting a sports complex.
Regarding trail ideas, I had two additional thoughts. One thought would be a trail
segment on the south side of Birch from the Stoneybrook development to Centerville Road.
I think that this was proposed two years ago as a method of moving residents to a 4 -way
that would allow a safer crossing of Birch.
The other thought was planning regarding a trail segment extending from Birch toward Lake
Drive along Hodgson. From the master plans that I have seen, I think that this is
anticipated trail segment. This maybe something to consider now that the bridge has been
completed. (Obviously, I understand the budgeted $25,000.00 would not complete this
segment, but it might be a good start.)
ElAt any rate, those are some thoughts that I have. See you next year.
- -Aaron P. Frederickson
•
1
