Tae Kwon Do pg .
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
Program Highlights
March Park Board Update
YOUTH
Youth Instructional Programs: Our youth instructional programs will end
their winter season this week. They will resume again the first and second
week of April after spring break. Registration is currently underway for the
spring session and numbers appear to be strong for our dance and soccer
programs - both have classes that are already full.
Spring Break: We are offering two week long camps over spring break week - Abrakadoodle's Colorama
Camp and Once Upon a Time Dance and Theatre Camp. Both camps are offered in collaboration with
Blaine Parks and Recreation Department. At this time enrollment is still low for both camps, but we anticipate
it increasing now that spring break is only a little over a week away.
Access Adventure (A2): We have just started a new teen programming initiative with Shoreview Parks and
Recreation and Blaine Parks and Recreation called Access Adventure (A2). A2 programs are designed to
provide adventure for teens in all areas of their life. Our current line up of programs includes a cooking class
at Chef Space, a Saturday afternoon area skatepark tour, and a running program. This summer we will be
offering a program called Amazing Teen Race that is modeled after the TV show.
•
ADULT
Basketball: The Mens Basketball Tournament completed on Wednesday, March 21. The Gym Rats won the
title game over the Corporate Raiders! The Gym Rats, Dummys Dummies, and the Corporate Raiders will
represent the City of Lino Lakes in this weekends upcoming Class State Tournament in Minnetonka.
Indoor Soccer: The Co -Rec Indoor Soccer League opened play on Wednesday, March 14. We have 8
teams in the league this season.
Slowpitch Softball: Slowpitch Softball Leagues are almost full....we have one spot left on Tuesdays. We will
be offering Monday and Tuesday Class D Mens and Sunday Co -Rec leagues.
RECREATION REVIEW
Work is currently underway on the summer edition of the Recreation Review. It is scheduled to be out in
homes the last week of April. Watch for some minor changes to the design of the guide.
SUMMER EMPLOYMENT
We have received 45+ applications for summer playground and general summer
employment so far this year. Our application deadline is March 30, but we
anticipate that we will continue to receive applications past that date as many
students don't think about summer employment until mid - spring. Interviews for
selected candidates for our playground program will take place the weeks of
 arch 26 - 30 and April 2 - 6. We have already offered positions to 10 returning
ayground staff and anticipate hiring an additional 12 - 16 people for this program.
Questions?
