Family Turkey Shoot
Baseball Throw (4 -6 year old division)
Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation Department
Program Highlights
November Park Board Update
SPECIAL EVENTS
Family Turkey Shoot: The 10thAnnual Family Turkey Shoot was held
on Saturday, November 10 at Centennial Middle School. 64 teams and 20
volunteers participated in this year's event. This is the lowest number of
teams and volunteers we've had to date, but the event could not have gone
any better. There were no lines, the volunteers were extremely helpful, and
there were plenty of refreshments. Everyone was very happy and we heard
many positive comments throughout the event. The lower attendance could
have been a result of our decision not to do school flyers this year, but it is
difficult to say as we had a lot of new families in attendance that heard about the event through our other advertisements
- Centennial's "In the Loop" and the Quad Press. Overall, I would say the event was a huge success!
Breakfast with Santa: Breakfast with Santa is quickly approaching. As of November 21, 106 people ages 18 months and
up have registered. This is slightly lower than year's past at this time, but the economy could be playing a role - across
the board attendance has been lower in programs. We will continue to accept registrations through the end of November.
Despite our lower attendance number, our volunteer total for Breakfast with Santa is above and beyond what we really
need, but we are finding ways to utilize the help.
Letters from Santa: Even though it's not even Thanksgiving yet, we've already received 11 requests for Letters from Santa.
We anticipate this to be as popular this year as it has been in the past. After last year's holiday season we revised our
letters to include two letter versions for each age from 1 year to 13 year years. This should really bring a new twist for those
families requesting multiple letters for their children of different ages.
•ecret Holiday Shop: The Secret Holiday Shop is quickly approaching. It will be held December 12 and 13 at Lino Lakes
City Hall Community Room from 4:30 - 7 p.m. each evening. We already have several volunteers lined up to help the
shoppers and are looking forward to a great sale!
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Fastpitch Pitching Clinics: Fastpitch Girls Softball Clinics are underway and we have 9 girls signed up for the program.
All of the girls in the class are working at different levels and are refining their pitching skills.
Youth Instructional: Our youth instructional programs (Dance, Toss, Kick & Catch, Tae Kwon Do, Soccer Mini Camp,
Floor Hockey, etc.) are winding down for the season. Many will end the end of this month or the beginning of next month.
Programs will resume after Winter Break in early to mid - January.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Open Basketball: Open adult basketball started on Monday, November 12 and we had 13 players there for the first night.
Open basketball is from 7:00 - 9:45 at Centennial Middle School gymnasium.
5- Player Basketball League: 5- Player Adult Basketball League is set to open
league play on Wednesday, November 28. We have 7 teams in the league this
year.
WARMING HOUSES
Warming house staff have been hired and we have many new staff this year.
Warming houses are set to open on Saturday, December 15 (weather permitting).
LINO LAKES NEWS
The winter edition of the Lino Lakes News was mailed out the
week of November 19. It is also available in our office and on -line
at www.ci.lino- lakes.mn.us.
Questions?
