Park Board Meeting — January 7, 2008 <br />Minutes <br />• REVIEW 2007 PARKS AND RECREATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS: <br />Rick reviewed the memo included in the member's packets. He mentioned the <br />renovation work at Lino Park which included demolishing the park building, removal of <br />30 green ash trees, backstop, player benches and concrete pads. He also said <br />regrading and importing topsoil, installation of paved trail loop, irrigation system, seed <br />bed preparation and reseeding turf areas had been done. He said Recreation staff was <br />kept busy processing 3,916 program registrations. <br />REVIEW RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick referred to the Program Highlights Flyer from December, 2007. He touched on the <br />new brochure look and format. The front cover is full color now! He talked about the <br />Secret Holiday Shop and Breakfast with Santa. He asked member's to review the <br />update and to contact him if there were any questions. <br />PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATES: <br />Rick reviewed a memo from Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor, which summarized the <br />parks maintenance highlights for December. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />9a. Determine 2008 Park Board Meeting Schedule: <br />Staff recommended the following 2008 Park Board meeting dates. He asked members <br />to please note that the September meeting will be the annual park tour and bbq: <br />411 Monday, January 7, 2008 Monday, July 7, 2008 <br />Monday, February 4, 2008 Monday, August 4, 2008 <br />Monday, March 3, 2008 Tuesday, September 2, 2008 — Tour and BBQ <br />Monday, April 7, 2008 Monday, October 6, 2008 <br />Monday, May 5, 2008 Monday, November 3, 2008 <br />Monday, June 2, 2008 Monday, December 1, 2008 <br />Pam Taschuk made a motion to accept the Park Board meeting dates as presented. <br />Bill Kusterman seconded the motion and the 2008 Park Board Schedule was approved. <br />9b. Discuss 2008 Park Board Goals: <br />Members were told that it is time to start thinking about the 2008 goals. Rick attached <br />an updated Park Dedication Fund Summary for member's to review. He said it was <br />again expected that $50,000 from the Dedicated Park Fund would be used to reimburse <br />the Area and Unit Fund for the debt to secure the land purchased in 1999. <br />Rick informed members that this item was discussed at the November's meeting but no <br />action had been taken. There was a general consensus from the Board not to <br />designate any specific projects for 2008 due to a low undesignated fund balance. Rick <br />said that there is $25,000 in the General Fund for trails again this year. <br />• Pat Huelman made a motion to proceed with the completion of the Pheasant Hills trail <br />and to consider the completion of the trail along the north side of Clearwater Creek from <br />2 <br />
