• <br />Park Board Meeting — November 2, 2009 <br />Minutes <br />6c. Joint Powers Agreement with Centennial School District <br />Rick said the Centennial School District has been notified of the cancellation of the <br />Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) between the City and the Centennial School District. <br />He said that the city is waiting to see what the school district is going to propose for the <br />cost of using indoor and outdoor facilities. <br />Rick also said that the budget has not been completed yet but it is proposed that there <br />would not be any seasonal staff within the Parks Department Budget in 2010. <br />Staff will keep the Park Board up to date on this issue. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />There was no old business to discuss. <br />UPDATES: <br />8a. Recreation Update <br />Rick said Gobbler Games (formerly named Turkey Shoot) is scheduled for Saturday, <br />November 14 at the Centennial Middle School. He also stated that there were 36 <br />soccer teams this fall for a total of 460 kids and 17 football teams totaling 356 kids in <br />the football program. <br />• He asked members to review the update and contact him if they had any questions. <br />8b. Park Update <br />Rick reviewed a memo from Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor, which summarized the <br />maintenance highlights for March through October 2009. Rick noted that the Marshan <br />Building is getting upgraded with new siding, windows, and gutters. Again he asked <br />members to contact him if they had any questions after reading the update. <br />OPEN DISCUSSION: <br />Pat Huelman talked about the joint meeting with the Environmental Board pertaining to <br />the Emerald Ash Borer. He stated that the meeting was very interesting and <br />informative. He talked about chemical treatment, how critical timing is and that a <br />decision needs to be made about where to put resources. (i.e. parks, boulevards or <br />residential trees.) It is very important that residents are educated on this issue. <br />Rick told members that 2010 goals will be put on the next meeting agenda. <br />Members talked about putting a memorial of some type in Marshan Park dedicated to <br />Pam Taschuk. She was on the Park Board for 15 years and they thought it would be a <br />nice gesture. <br />NEXT PARK BOARD MEETING: <br />Acting Chair Huelman advised the next Park Board meeting would be held on Monday, <br />December 7, 2009 at 6:30 pm. <br />
