Late last year we were awarded a DNR Community Forest Bonding Grant in the amount <br />of $25,000 to replace Ash Trees with native trees in city parks and boulevards. <br />In April and May city staff removed 74 Ash trees from city parks and replaced them with <br />92 2" Ball & Bagged trees in the following parks: <br />Park Name Removed Replaced <br />Lino Park 7 7 <br />Sunrise Park 12 13 <br />Behm's Park 10 10 <br />Highland Meadows Park 0 14 <br />City Hall Park 7 7 <br />Wenzel Farms Park 1 3 <br />Marshan Park 18 18 <br />Clearwater Creek Park 19 19 <br />TOTAL 74 91 <br />Species planted included: <br />Description No of Tree Planted <br />Hackberry 20 <br />Princeton American Elm 14 <br />Sentry American Linden 12 <br />Northern Red Oak 12 <br />Swamp White Oak 5 <br />Bur Oak 11 <br />Northern Pin Oak 12 <br />Kentucky Coffee Tree 5 <br />TOTAL 91 <br />Plant material cost was $12,725.00 all of which was covered by the grant. Our labor <br />costs are not covered by the grant. The remaining trees, approximately 80 -90 will be <br />planted on city boulevards to replace existing boulevard Ash Trees. We will begin the <br />removals this summer with replacement planting this fall and next spring. <br />• Athletic field inspections and maintenance field layouts and painting. Moving, anchoring <br />and hanging nets on soccer goals. <br />• Playground inspections and repair. <br />• Equipment conversion from winter to spring/summer. Storage of winter equipment. <br />May 2011 <br />• Weekly garbage pickup. <br />• Mowing and trimming. <br />• Landscape Beds. <br />o Clean and trim last year's growth. <br />o Apply pre- emergent control <br />• Sunrise Park Shelter <br />o Prepared location site (staff). <br />o Pour concrete footings and slab. (contracted) <br />o Installed new shelter (contracted) <br />o Grade, sod and seed (staff). <br />• Irrigation system startups and repairs. <br />
