Park Board Meeting — December 12, 2011 <br />Minutes <br />Pat Mahr, Director from Centennial Lakes Little League, told members that they had <br />received money from a grant to demolish and rebuild a wall at Carl Eck Park in Circle <br />Pines. <br />Mr. Mahr says Centennial Little League is currently using two ball fields in Lino Lakes <br />and has been talking to one of the city's recreation supervisors about using two <br />additional fields in 2012. <br />Michael Grochala, City of Lino Lakes Community Development Director says the Park <br />Board needs to come up with a project they would like to complete. Rick DeGardner, <br />Public Services Director said the initial investment needs to come from the city to <br />accomplish this project. <br />Whatever project is decided on it should be shovel ready and addressed in the city's <br />comp plan and park master plan. <br />After further discussion Mayor Jeff Reinert asked Jeff Karlson, City Administrator to put <br />the Recreation Complex on the first work session agenda, in January 2013, so the <br />council can discuss funding for this project. <br />6. REVIEW RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick reviewed the update included in the member's packets. He talked about Breakfast <br />with Santa and the upcoming senior's appreciation lunch. He also said Men's Adult <br />Basketball had started December 7. <br />He said staff had started flooding skating rinks and we had hoped to open them <br />December 16, 2011, weather permitting. <br />Rick asked members to read the update and contact him if they had any questions. <br />7. REVIEW PARK DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick started off by saying that the Park Department Update was for July through <br />November. The review included playground inspections, mulching trees, working on <br />trails and tree pruning. <br />Sunrise #4 infield was renovated in September. The pitcher's mound was rebuilt, staff <br />edged and sodded where needed and added ag -lime and leveled the field. <br />He told members that there had been a lot of vandalism in 2011. Repairs were done at <br />Pheasant Hills, Marshan, City Hall and Clearwater Creek Parks. Maintenance workers <br />also took care of graffiti in the underground tunnel at Rice Lake Elementary School. <br />Members should call Rick if they have any questions about the Park Department <br />Update. <br />NEXT PARK BOARD MEETING: <br />• The next Park Board Meeting will be January 3, 2012, at 6:30p.m. <br />
