• AGENDA ITEM 4C
•
•
STAFF ORIGINATOR:
MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
VOTE REQUIRED:
Dan Tesch, Director of Administration
January 27, 2003
Consider Salary Increases for Non -union Personnel
for 2003
3/5
BACKGROUND:
There are ten non -union city employees. Staff is recommending that these employees
receive the same 2003 salary increase negotiated by the city's four unions: 3 %.
In addition, staff is recommending market adjustments to salaries for two positions that
are below the average for similar size metro area cities: Public Services Director, 1 %; and
Finance Director, 2 %. These positions did not receive market adjustments in 2002.
Non -union employees traditionally receive the same health care benefits as unionized
employees. For 2003 this is 100% coverage of the premium for single coverage and $500
plus one -half of any increase in family coverage.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve the proposed 2003 non -union salary increases.
2. Decline to approve the proposed 2003 non -union salary increases.
3. Return to staff for further review and/or action.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Option #1: Approve the proposed 2003 non -union salary increases.
J:\Ismith\exempt\GRSHEET03.doc
