One of the conditions of <br />approval was that two existing accessory buildings be removed prior to construction of <br />the new addition. However, that did not occur. The accessory building were built <br />without a building permit. Gordy Johnson of UDOR wants to replace one of the <br />accessory buildings with a new one. <br />Staff presented its analysis of the request, noting it has concluded that accessory buildings <br />are not allowed in the GI district under the current zoning ordinance. Under Minnesota <br />Statutes 15.99, if the City denies an application it must state in writing the reasons for the <br />denial at the time that it denies the application. <br />Mr. Smyser stated if the applicant agrees to an extension of the review period, an option <br />is available to apply for an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to allow accessory <br />buildings in the Industrial Zone. Gordy Johnson stated there is a separation due to the sprinkler connection for <br />the Fire Department, however, he may be able to find a way to connect the buildings. <br />Gordy Johnson stated his agreement to an extension of the review period. <br />Mr. Corson made a MOTION to table consideration of the site plan request of UDOR to <br />construct an accessory storage building on the UDOR site at 500 Apollo Drive to allow <br />for a separate application for an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to be processed, and <br />was supported by Mr. Johnson.
