Topics were added in <br />1997 when it was extended to six <br />weeks. Past participants suggested that <br />more time be added to the academy and <br />that additional hands -on exercises be <br />added. <br />The academy is limited to 20 <br />people so early registration is recom- <br />mended. Register by calling the Lino <br />Lakes Police Department at 651 -982- <br />2302. <br />Lino Lakes police <br />receive Safe and <br />Sober grant <br />A $26,500 Safe and Sober <br />grant has been awarded to the Lino <br />Lakes Police Department by the <br />Minnesota <br />Depai Lnent <br />of Public <br />Safety. /.`, <br />\ \Sr <br />1 '\ <br />This <br />grant will <br />provide <br />overtime <br />funding for <br />officers to <br />enforce <br />seat belt laws, child safety restraint <br />laws, speeding laws, aggressive <br />driving laws, driving under the <br />influence and any other alcohol - <br />related offenses including underage <br />consumption drivers. <br />The Lino Lakes Police <br />Department participated in this <br />grant program during this same <br />period last year along with other <br />agencies within Anoka County. <br />Page 4 Winter 2001 <br />
