This way everyone
sells the same thing.
City can't buy - "vote yes" signs. But they can buy a colorful
sign that says mark your calendar (date), please vote.
Talk to City Attorney to verify that your task force can pay for
things.
Everyone needs to get out, get input, and list input you have
received.
Go after with enthusiasm and plan to win.
Talk to local news editor and get them on your side.
Get cost on items you want in referendum.
The interest you collect from referendum dollars must go back
into project you included in referendum, not into something else
you would like.
You need purchase option on property before referendum passes to
prevent the price from going up.
Turn negative "no growth" into a positive. Tell people someone
in the past purchased park property, lets continue to do it for
future generations. Sell the complex by saying the property will
be turned into "green space" - never developed with houses.
WANTED IN REFERENDUM:
1. Trails
2. Athletic Complex
3. Neighborhood Parks Improvements
It was suggested the whole Park Board needs to meet with the City
Council in January if the board plans to have a vote in April or
May.
The handouts brought by Jeff, Jon, and Paul have been placed in a
file in the Parks and Recreation office if you would like to
review them.
Meeting was adjourned approximately 8:20pm.
