Rick DeGardner, Barry Bernstein,
and Sandie Wood were present from the Parks and Recreation
Department.
Rick will continue to work on getting a final figure for
dedicated park funds so, the board will be able to decide if
they want to put any of the funds towards the cost of doing the
referendum.
The following items were discussed at this meeting:
A. Determine possible referendum date and establish a time line
The members talked about whether the vote should be on a
Saturday or a weekday.
Rick will talk to Jeff Shoenbauer and get his opinion. He
will also talk to Marilyn about polling places. Can the
locations be changed for a special election.
Rick said six weeks before the election an attractive piece
of literature should be to sent to the residents homes. He
also said it should be put in the June City Newsletter.
B. Determine preliminary total referendum amount
Rick said that Brian Wessel, Community Development Director,
told him that there will be more commercial dollars coming
into the city in the next 3 -4 years.
The board reviewed the estimated tax impact - general
obligation issue form that was included in the packet.
After lengthy discussion the board decided the dollar amount
for the referendum should be $5M - $6M.
C. Review cost estimates
No discussion.
