OLino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department Program Highlights - April Park Board Update Youth CLUBS - Our Spring Break field trips were a success. 58 youth participated in Cheapskate and Tropics, 54 youth participated in Bowling, Lunch and Movie, 36 youth participated in Children's Museum and Wabasha Street Caves and 24 youth participated in Jam the Gym. Youth Instructional - Many of our spring season programs began this month. Registration for our Floor Hockey Mini Camp and Soccer Mini Camp reached capacity. Overall registration for our Dance classes, however, was slightly lower than in the past. We believe this may be a result of older children moving on to local dance studios for further instruction. Our Preschool Dance class numbers have remained consistent. Summer Programs - Registration for some of our more popular summer programs (Summer Playground Program, Day Camp, Tennis and GolJ) has been a little slow this year. We feel that this may be a result of the cold temperatures and poor weather we experienced early this month. However, once the nice weather began at the end of the month, we received a number of calls about our summer programs. Options - Options experienced excellent registration this year. 55 children are currently enrolled (up 8 from last year) and we are still receiving calls. Adult Softball - Adult softball registration, currently at 42 teams, is consistent with last years registration of 44 teams. Special Events Kite Day - Kite Day will be held on Saturday, June 2. If not for the kind contributions from Mountain Enterprises and the Lino Lakes Lions Club, this program may not have been offered. Twins Clinic - On Friday, June 8 the Minnesota Twins will be presenting a free clinic to area youth at Centennial Middle School. Tennis Clinic - On Saturday, May 26 the Parks and Recreation Department and the United States Tennis Association will be offering a free one day Tennis Clinic for area residents at Centennial Middle School. Employment We are currently in the process of hiring seasonal staff for a variety of summer leader and instructor positions.
