The extremely wet April, we've been
experiencing, has slowed our efforts to get our athletic fields(softball, baseball, soccer) in shape
for the upcoming spring/summer season. If things dry out we hope to have all fields ready by
Monday, April 30th. Maintenance activities during April have included:
Ballfield renovation and maintenance
• Leveling and dragging infields.
• Home plate, pitching rubber and base peg repair.
• Cleaned out base boxes.
• Ballfield safety inspections.
• Installed new field number signs.
Soccer field layout and maintenance
• Field inspection.
• Moved goals where needed.
• Attached nets.
• Field painting.
City Hall West Project
• Installed player's benches.
• Leveled and seeded outfield, out of play and spectator areas.
Sunrise #3 and #4
• Little League rebuilt the pitchers mound on these two fields as well as general field
cleanup. Thanks Little League!
Sunrise Park entrance sign
• A new sign will soon dress up the entrance to Sunrise Park. A local girl scout has
taken on the task as part of her leadership project. Work completed thus far by city
staff has included:
1. Removal of storm damaged spruce tree just north of main entrance.
2. Installation of earthen berm where new sign will be located.
3. Removal of old sign and reshaping of berm.
