Lino Lakes Parks and
Recreation Department
Program Highlights -
July Park Board Update
Playground Patriotic Party - July 3
Summer Playground Program: As of 7- 20 -01, 266 children were enrolled full-time in the Summer Playground
Program and 118 daily registrations were received. This is an increase of 47 children from last summer and the
highest total we've had since we began charging a fee for the program in 1999. Our Patriotic Party on July 3 was
a success - 153 children attended the event. Our special performer was Magician Brian Richards.
WAFD Trips: Our trips this summer have been going well. We unfortunately had to cancel our trip to St. Louis
Park Rec Center and Aquatic Park due to mechanical problems at the pool and our MN Zoo trip was cancelled
due to low registration. On the bright side, our trips to Valleyfair, Twins Game and Crystal Cave were over their
maximum of 60 participants and our last two trips of the season are reaching their registration capacity!
Tennis Tots and USA Tennis 1 -2 -3: These classes have been very popular this year. We have over 150 children
•reistered in our tennis lesson program This is the highest registration total we have experienced.
4 & 5/6 year old T -Ball: Approximately 340 children are registered in this program.
Cougar Baseball Camp: 64 children participated in this program - the largest number to date. Only 31 children
participated in this program last summer.
Youth Golf Lessons: All five of our golf lessons filled. We anticipate offering more class variety in the future.
Safety Camp: As of 7- 20 -01, we have over 100 participants registered for this program. This is the soonest we
have reached capacity.
Fall Youth Tackle Football: Registrations are currently being accepted for this program. Last season, the
Centennial Football Association (who administered the program) had 219 participants. Currently, we have well
over 200 participants registered.
Fall Soccer: We are currently accepting registrations for this program.
We anticipate that we will see an increase from 50 to 60 teams this season.
Adult Softball: The summer season is coming to a close with only a couple of
weeks remaining. We are currently accepting registrations for the fall season.
•Adult Golf: The lessons have gone well this season. The weather has affected
some classes and continues to be a challenge.
Questions?
