Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation
Department
Program Highlights -
June Park Board Update
Kite Day - June 2, 2001 YOUTH
Summer Playground Program: As of June 21, 239 children were enrolled in this program. This is an increase of
20 participants from last year's final total. We will continue to accept registrations for this program throughout the
summer. New to the program this summer is the addition of a special Patriotic Theme Party on July 3.
Options: Things are running smoothly with this program despite some minor building issues. The staff have
been very eager to make the best of this summer and are working hard to maintain positive relationships with
the school district personnel and other groups using Rice Lake Elementary.
Preschool Playtime: Classes started this month for our Preschool Playtime program. We have two classes of
this program and each is at its capacity of 15 participants.
Soccer Fundamentals: This program has once again shown its popularity. Five out of the six classes offered are
at their maximum capacity of 24 participants. We had to change our 8 -9 year old class this summer to a 4 -5 year
old class in order to accommodate the high number children in that age range.
itSoccer and Youth Tackle Football: We are currently accepting registrations for these two programs. The
registration deadline for both programs is July 20.
ADULT
Softball: The season is approximately 2/3 over and the fall season is just around the corner.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Kite Day: This year's Kite Day was a success despite the cold and cloudy weather. Approximately 300 kites
were handed out during the hour and a half event.
REGISTRATIONS, WEATHER, FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES GUIDE
Registration figures are above figures from last year at this time. Registrations came in later than normal, but
have been steady since the weather became warmer.
We have had to adjust /reschedule several classes, games and events
due to the rainy weather we experienced this spring and early summer.
Due to the weather and growth of our programs over the past
ten years, it has become increasingly more difficult to continue
accommodating all the interested participants with the amount of
facilities we have available to us.
illkur Fall Activities Guide, which we will begin work on
next month, will be mailed out the last week of August.
Questions?
